The Internet, despite how ugly it has gotten over the past 10 - 12 years, still has some cool spots left. I'd like to dedicate a portion of this site to those that have struck me that I've discovered. Many of these have inspired me to make my own webpage, so this is a bit of homage as well. If you happen to be the owner of any of these sites and would like it removed from this list for any reason, feel free to contact me. I'll be sad though... anyways, have a look.
NewOrderOnline - http://neworderonline.com/
This is exactly my type of website; beautifully 2006 and frequented by cool people who all share the love of one of the greatest bands on Earth. This site dates back to the millennium at the latest, and has riches of content on it. There's quite a bit of info on the band's history and discography on the webpage, along with a forum page. Sadly, this site is about 20 years past its prime, and could vanish at any point, with the moderator saying that it has been migrated to a subreddit and the website will be taken down soon. Some of the features also do not work as intended, namely the account registration, which is required to participate on the forums (though this may be user error). Visit while you can.
New Order Dot Net - https://www.new-order.net//
Another New Order fansite, because New Order fansites are awesome. This one has less going on than the prior site, but when I first saw it I instantly thought "This looks like my site!", and the text at the bottom reading "Last updated: 4 February 2001" put a smile on my face. Some interesting things on New Order Dot Net are some random audio clips from interviews and the like, the gigography (I have yet to explore that), and loads of onstage banter by Sumner and Hook, at varying stages of vulgarity. It's a treasure trove and doesn't appear to be going anywhere.
CDRings - https://cdring.neocities.org/
Here's a fellow Neocities site, and one that I quite like. As you may guess from the title, it is a webring, where users select an album and get a CD widget to place on their webpage, leading to other members' sites or back to the CDRing page itself. I am a member of the ring, and was able to choose the Cure's 10/10 album Disintegration as my album. The owner of the site was also very kind and followed my site. Join up if you can,, it's a cool thing to be a part of.
Martinspage - https://martinspage.neocities.org/
Another Neocities site owned by a friend, it's not really cool yet, but I trust that eventually it will be. It's probably going to be similar to mine, at least in what he talks about on there, we're friends for a reason after all. Give him a follow if you like it.
Guitaretab! - https://www.guitaretab.com/
This is a guitar tab website, obviously, but I favor it over others because it has character. It's old (tabs of full Cure albums reportedly date back to 1994!) and relatively obscure, and has helped me learn many songs over the past year I've been using it. It's my favorite place to learn tabs, and if your music taste is anything like mine, you should find plenty of songs to learn. I would encourage all guitarists viewing this to check it out whenever you have a moment
More coming soon!
