Hello! I'm Alan and you've reached my webpage. I thought I would tell some about myself because it is, after all, a personal website. Also I have to admit, I do like talking about myself every now and then. It's not going to be super personal because I'm kind of paranoid, but I will talk plenty, don't worry. So here it is!
Here are some things that I like to do:
Playing music is my favorite thing to do. I play guitar almost every day and I love it. I have both an acoustic and an electric guitar, but I typically prefer to play the acoustic. It is sweeter or has more personality or something, for one reason or another I tend to play it a lot more. I have been playing since June 2024 but I'm not that good. I do know several songs or parts of songs though, and occasionally I write my own. The ones that I have recorded are files on my phone at varying stages of demo form. I also dabble in the keyboard but I have virtually no skills, and I mostly just play songs by ear using my guitar, transfer it over. I love playing music and especially learning new songs and growing my skills.
I like listening to music very much, it is the entire reason I started to play music. I have a small collection of CDs that has grown since I bought a few in January 2025 which I do most of my concentrated/full album listening on with my stereo system (preferred method). I also have a lot of music downloaded on my phone, some sourced from the CDs and some from elsewhere, which I listen to when I'm away from home, or just want to hear a few specific songs. I don't have a very broad musical palette however. I predominantly listen to what would be considered post punk, new wave, alternative, and electronic (in short; college radio from circa 1985-1990). Some of my favorite bands and artists that I listen to daily include Depeche Mode, The Cure, New Order, Joy Division, The Smiths, David Bowie, and Morrissey. I also less frequently dabble in The Smashing Pumpkins, Radiohead, Bjork, Gary Numan, Nick Cave, Jeff Buckley, and PJ Harvey. As I mentioned earlier, my favorite way to listen to music is to plug my headphones into my CD stereo and listen to a full album. Some of my favorite albums include:
Like most young people of my generation, I enjoy playing video games. I play on a Windows 11 laptop with a disappeared D drive. Unlike most young people of my generation, I can't stand free to play online multiplayer games. While several of the games that I play have some kind of multiplayer functionality, it is not the core part of the game, and I tend to ignore it far more often than I participate. My very favorite video game is the first season of The Walking Dead - A Telltale Games Series, followed closely by Season 2. I know that they are far from traditional "fight the bad guys" video games, but the story is priceless. I also like playing all three Dark Souls games, though my favorite by far and large is Dark Souls II (we shall address this controversy at a later date). I am also guilty of having approximately 230 hours on The Sims 3, and not much save progress to show for it. I only recently begun a save that I actually stuck with. Occasionally I also enjoy The Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Project Zomboid, Garry's Mod, and Half Sword. I have a lot of games but those are the main ones I play. I prefer to play for a few hours on days/nights that I'm free, usually Friday, Saturday, and Sunday unless school's out.
Whenever people say that they like to write, it always sounds boring. Even to me, who also likes writing. Which is weird because I really like hearing about when people start some form of writing outside of schoolwork. I don't know what it is about it, it's just inherently a boring thing to say. Probably because of the academic connotations. But anyways I like to write. I haven't written anything creative in almost a year, but I do journal every night. I used to be a big creative writing person, starting ambitious projects and abandoning them soon after. Some of these more thought out subjects I've held onto and flirted with the idea of actually writing them, more than the "minimalist" drafts I have from two years ago. I've got this one dark fantasy story where there's this kingdom where everybody is slowly forgetting everything, and a curse is physically eating away at the world and all, and another modern pseudo-apocalypse story where society is attacked by spirits but doesn't totally dismantle it, it just kind of gets a bit simplified. Anyways, I haven't written much in awhile, but I think about things I could do with these stories. I just don't commit it to paper is all. Hey, don't even think about stealing my ideas!
I have other interests such as running and cooking, but there's not much to talk about there, so I'll leave it alone.
This website is an outlet for all of my interests, a culmination of sorts. Honestly it will probably lean more heavily in the music direction, but I'm not ruling out anything. I'd like to include all of the above on this site. I'm just here to talk about what I love, and share some of what I make. It's simple really. Totally novel too... anyways, so that's that I guess. Feel free to share this site with like minded individuals, if you enjoy it. I'd love to make this site the talk of Neocities, however ambitious that may be.
Oh yeah, one last thing. Should probably point out any kinds of "mature" content on this site. First off, there is not and will never be any NSFW content on this webpage. However, occasional profanity can be expected, and who knows, maybe a drug reference? To be honest, I don't even remember if there is anything bad on here. I think I swore once or twice on the Depeche Mode song ranking, not excessively though. Just trying to plan for what I may say. In short, no sexually explicit content will have a home here.
If you're still interested in this site, I would recommend checking out the News page. I've linked everything I've written on here on that page, so that's a good place to start. In time I may organize the page further into different catagories, but for now, everything is dumped on the News page.
Enjoy the site!
Alan
